Hey, just found your blog through Entrecard.

I know a lot of people think trading out the little girl was a low move. Personally I don’t care that much. They picked an adorable girl (who by many accounts probably didn’t know she wasn’t singing). And really, who are we to judge who live in the center of the world of fake pop stars and engineered success?

What message does this give kids? The same one we’ve been pumping out to them for about the last 10 years.

The fireworks… They “faked” a portion of them for TV because it would have been far too dangerous to have actually used a helicopter. Or at least that was their perception of the risk. It is a bit disappointing that they were fake… but wow! They looked amazing.

These events might be a bit shady, but lots of things are faked for us every day, and the fact that this was solely for entertainment doesn’t bother me a bit.

I’ve been a competitionswimmer and we always were told that you’d better make that las stroke and bump your head against the wall because of too much speed, then wait those centimeters after te last stroke to touch the “timepad”.

Co-sign on most of the above. That is teaching litte kids something quite sinister I think. Not cute enough to sing? What kind of sense does that make?

Cavic’s coaches immediately filed a protest which was summarily dismissed after the committee viewed the overhead cameras, not to mention when swimmers touch the wall there is a “touch pad” there which records the precise time at which they touched it. There is no conspiracy, but I can understand why Milorad Cavic’s team wants to think so. No one likes to lose, especially by such a tragically small margin.
